Mary Kate McDevitt is an illustrator, hand-letterer, and designer known for her warm, whimsical style and thoughtful typographic work. Mary Kate attended Tyler School of Art and has been creating lettering and illustration for clients since 2007. She blends hand-drawn lettering, playful character illustration, and rich color to create engaging pieces for editorial, packaging, branding, and surface design. Her work often emphasizes humor, human connection, and approachable charm, making it well-suited to lifestyle and consumer brands.
Mary Kate has produced commercial work for clients across publishing, retail, and hospitality, and her lettering and illustrations appear on products, posters, book covers, and editorial spreads. She also creates personal projects and limited-edition prints that showcase her distinctive voice and commitment to craft. In addition to client work, Mary Kate is active in the creative communityβsharing process insights, lettering techniques, and inspiration through workshops, talks, and social media.
Trained in graphic design, she combines strong typographic sensibilities with a hand-made aesthetic, balancing precision and spontaneity. Her practice values storytelling, accessibility, and the tactile qualities of hand-lettering, aiming to bring warmth and personality to both commercial and personal projects.
